Curonian Spit Kayak Tour
Curonian Spit Kayak Tour
The Curonian Spit National Park is known as the Lithuanian Sahara for its spectacular golden sand dunes. Discover them for yourself exploring the isthmus on this kayak tour! After meeting at 11 am at the Pervalka pier, we'll enjoy a brief safety talk on how to handle the kayaks before getting into the water.
We'll paddle over to the historic Pervalka lighthouse, built in 1900. From there, we'll enjoy panoramic views of the wooded area of the Curonian spit, which is a popular habitat for a great variety of birds.
Continuing on our kayak tour, we'll reach the sand dunes of Curonia, in an area known as the Nagliai Nature Reserve. Did you know these impressive dunes are protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site? The incredible desert landscapes don't seem like they're on the border with Russia!
We'll take a break from kayaking, heading onto the sand dunes for lunch. You can choose to bring your own food or to book a picnic included with your tour.
After our break, we'll paddle over to the small village of Juodkrantė, a picturesque area known for its typical Lithuanian houses. Having admired their architecture, we'll head back to the Pervalka pier to drop off our kayaks, and our tour will come to an end around 6 pm.
Do I need previous kayaking experience?
All can participate! The activity is low difficulty, so no previous kayaking experience is required. We'll cover a total of around 9 kilometres (5.5 miles) with several stops to rest and take photos.
Important Information
Children under 16 must be accompanied in the kayak by an adult.
