Tour Details
Upon arrival at the port of Marsa, a bus will be waiting to take us to Valletta, the capital of Malta, in just 15 minutes.
Once there, we'll take a guided walking tour to explore the city. As we stroll through its narrow streets, we'll notice the characteristic colourful wooden balconies that adorn the facades, a distinctive feature of Maltese architecture.
During the tour of the city, which is a World Heritage Site, we'll be able to admire the exterior of St. John's Co-Cathedral, famous for its two masterpieces by Caravaggio, including The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. Another landmark of Maltese heritage is the Grand Master's Palace, which was the residence of the Grand Masters of the Order of Malta.
Walking through Valletta, we'll also come across charming squares, such as Republic Square and St George's Square, where we can soak up the local atmosphere. We'll also enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Grand Harbour, the Three Cities and the walls of Valletta from the Upper Barrakka Gardens.
At the end of the guided tour, we'll leave you with about an hour of free time to take souvenir photos and refuel with some typical local cuisine. We'll meet again at the end of this time to head to Mdina, located about 40 minutes from the capital.
Upon arriving at our second destination of the day, we'll pass through Mdina Gate. This impressive Baroque gate is the main entrance to the city. As we pass through it, you'll feel as though you have been transported back to Malta's medieval past.
Mdina is also nicknamed the "Silent City" due to the tranquillity of its streets. As we walk through it, we can admire St. Paul's Cathedral. This magnificent Baroque temple, built on top of an older church, is one of Malta's main religious buildings and an example of the island's architectural wealth.
We'll also admire the elegant palaces of Malta's ancient noble families, many of which still retain their original charm. Afterwards, you'll have an hour of free time to continue exploring the city at your leisure. We recommend visiting the walls of Mdina, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the island, stretching from the rural interior to the coast.
Finally, we'll return to the port of Marsa by bus. From there, we'll take the ferry back to Pozzallo, ending a tour of approximately 10 hours.
