Discover a pre-Incan cemetery, as you learn about Peru’s ancient cultures and traditions on this day trip to Sillustani from Puno.
Day Trip to Sillustani
After picking you up from your hotel, we’ll head northeast for approximately 50 minutes until we reach the archaeological site of Sillustani.
Lying on the shores of Lake Umayo, at almost 13,123 (4,000 metres) above sea level, you’ll be able to admire the incredible chullpas. These are tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures. These pre-Inca structures seem to defy the laws of gravity as many have a greater diameter at the top than they do at the bottom!
As you make your way around the archaeological site of Sillustani, you’ll discover the secrets of the ancient Colla culture and their funeral rituals. From this point, you’ll also be able to admire the legendary Lake Umayo, considered as sacred for these cultures in this area.
Once we’ve explored the archaeological site of Sillustani, we’ll make our way back to your hotel in Puno.
This tour includes pick up in hotels in the centre of Puno. If you are not staying in the vicinity of Plaza de Armas, you should make your way to the square at the indicated time to be picked up.
