Quito Free Shopping Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Parque García Moreno, in front of the Basílica del Voto Nacional, to begin this free shopping tour of Quito.
Taking advantage of our meeting point, we'll tell you a brief history of this imposing church, known as the "Church of the End of the World". From its esplanade, we'll also be able to admire the impressive gargoyles and the entrance to the presidential pantheon.
We'll walk to some handicraft shops, where you'll have the opportunity to appreciate the talent of the indigenous Ecuadorian artisans, who work with materials such as alpaca wool, wood, clay and precious metals. Afterwards, we'll visit Ñucanchi, a bar where we'll learn more about Ecuador's artistic expressions and traditions.
Our free tour will continue at the Archbishop's Palace, located in the main square of the city, to learn all about Quito's desserts. Among them chimborazos, oblea wafers or guava sweets stand out. Here, we'll also explain the important history of an old colonial market that existed in this square and its relevance in the local gastronomy.
Afterwards, we'll stroll along one of the oldest and most bohemian streets of the historic centre: Calle Ronda. There, we'll find shops with unique pieces, such as the spinning top factory, the handmade tinsmith's shop and the famous toquilla straw hats.
We'll end our 3-hour tour in San Francisco square, visiting a shop specialising in fine chocolate, where we'll enjoy a tasting, and you'll be able to buy some delicacies to take a little piece of Ecuador with you.
