On August 12, 2026, at sunset, the first total solar eclipse visible from the Iberian Peninsula in over a century will take place. And where better to watch it than Rueda, in the province of Valladolid, one of the best spots in Spain to experience the full totality phase, making it the perfect setting for a night of astronomy and wine tourism.
To turn this historic event into something truly unforgettable, we have an unmissable plan among the vineyards. The prestigious Finca Montepedroso, part of the Familia Martínez Bujanda group, will give you a unique way to experience the 2026 solar eclipse, combining its natural surroundings, passion for wine and cuisine, with a night where the sky takes center stage.
On the day, you can take the shuttle bus from Rueda to Finca Montepedroso. On arrival, we'll enjoy a guided tour of the winery to get a firsthand look at wine production in Rueda.
The estate, founded in 2010, belongs to the exclusive Grandes Pagos de España association, which recognizes wineries that produce wines with the utmost respect for the terroir and the character of the vineyard. Over the course of the 1-hour visit, we'll learn about the exclusive single-variety cultivation dedicated to the verdejo grape, the characteristics of the soil, the night harvest process, and the aging system.
Finca Montepedroso also boasts a truly privileged setting, with a cutting-edge architectural design that blends seamlessly into the typical landscape of this part of Valladolid. Can you imagine taking in that view under the last rays of the setting sun? It'll be magical!
Once the tour is over, one of the most anticipated moments of the year, and of history, will arrive. At around 7:30 pm, the eclipse will begin, and we'll be ready to turn our gaze skyward and take it all in.
To make the most of it, we'll have all the professional equipment needed: solar telescopes fitted with certified filters, special solar observation binoculars, and certified eclipse glasses, an absolute must for viewing the 2026 solar eclipse safely.
The event will also feature expert astronomy guides who will walk us through every detail of the phenomenon, including the phases of the eclipse, nebulae, binary stars, galaxies, and star clusters. Think it can't get any better? It can!
Once the eclipse is over, after approximately 1 minute and 40 seconds in total, we'll sit down for a cocktail-style dinner. The Michelin-starred Restaurante Trigo from Valladolid will bring the perfect finishing touch to this magical evening at Finca Montepedroso, with dishes expertly paired with wines from the Familia Martínez Bujanda group, all enjoyed with live music, vineyard views, and the last light of the sunset.
After an unforgettable experience, you can hop back on the shuttle to Rueda.
Shuttle Bus
On the day of the activity, you can take the shuttle bus departing from outside the Rueda Cemetery to Finca Montepedroso. The service runs from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm, with 6:15 pm being the last departure.
