Immerse yourself in the Afro-Caribbean rhythms with this entertaining percussion workshop led by the exceptional Puerto Rican master musician Beto Torrens.
What does the workshop involve?
Our Afro-Caribbean drum workshop takes place at the Yemaya Studio: a creative centre owned by Beto Torrens whose professional career has been recognised with a Latin GRAMMY nomination.
For approximately 2 hours, Torrens will help us learn to play different Afro-Caribbean instruments. The Dholak, the Rainstick, the Tambora, the Marímbula, the Congas… All these are used to create amazing rhythms out of nothing!
Once you have command of all the instruments, we will end the workshop by performing our own composition. No need to learn it off by heart - percussion is largely based on improvisation!
