San Luis Potosí Guided Walking Tour
Tour Details
After meeting at the Jardín de San Miguelito, we'll kick off this walking tour to discover the most authentic side of San Luis Potosí. Let's go!
First, we'll stop in front of the San Luis Potosí Cathedral, a New Spanish Baroque treasure that showcases the viceregal influence and the city's religious power. Its main facade is carved in pink quarry, the region's emblematic stone, featuring Solomonic columns and unique reliefs.
Then, we'll go in search of the Palacio Municipal and the Palacio de Gobierno, whose arcades and balconies will show us the splendour of Potosino aristocracy. Among stories of founders, riots, and agreements, we'll discover how the city shaped its identity from the 16th century.
Later, we'll uncover the mysteries of the Casa de las Abandonadas, filled with legends and stories of turbulent times. After learning about its fascinating history, we'll head to the Jardín de San Francisco, where locals tend to relax among its tree-lined paths.
Our last stop will be at the Plaza Fundadores. Here, you'll see how architecture, religion, and daily life come together since Colonial times to the present day. In the center of the square, the statue of Saint Louis, King of France, honors the city's patron saint. Did you know that some claim this figure is Ferdinand III, King of Castile, due to an error in the iconographic elements?
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes at the Jardín de San Francisco after a 2.5-hour tour.
