Santa Cruz de Tenerife Free Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at a central point in the city to begin a free tour of the best of Santa Cruz in Tenerife. Ready? Let's go!
Among the must-see sights is the Nuestra Señora de África Market, one of the most authentic spots in the city. This neo-colonial building with Mudejar touches is a feast for the senses. We'll see how its aisles are filled with stalls selling tropical fruits, spices, fish freshly caught in the Atlantic and flowers.
Nearby is the Guimerá Theatre, the oldest in the Canary Islands. Its neoclassical façade reminds us of the importance of Santa Cruz as an artistic hub. How many symphony orchestras and theatre companies have graced its stage? We'll find out!
Another of the iconic places we'll visit is Plaza España, the nerve centre of the city for generations. Did you know that the Castle of San Cristóbal once stood here? It was the fortress with which Tenerife resisted attacks by pirates and foreign powers, such as the famous attempt by Admiral Horatio Nelson in 1797. We'll tell you the story!
Finally, after a total of 2 hours, we'll finish our tour in the centre of Santa Cruz.
