Day Trip Details

Ready to visit 2 gems in the Basque Country? At the designated time, we'll meet at the bus stop in front of the maritime passenger terminal, on Calle Antonio López, to leave Santander behind to travel to Bilbao and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

Firstly, we'll make our way to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, one of the most famous and photographed spots on the Basque coast. After a 2-hour bus journey, we'll reach this location, whose fame has increased significantly due to its appearance in various films and series.

Once here, we'll climb 241 stairs up to the 11th-century hermitage nestled on this peak. You'll be at an altitude of 79 metres (259 feet)! We'll admire the incredible views offered in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe of the Bay of Biscay, and if you're a fan of Game of Thrones, you'll have the opportunity to take photos of Dragonstone.

We'll then hop back onto a bus and head over to Bilbao, a city with a culture and identity that makes it truly unique. Before beginning a guided tour, we'll tell you some fun facts about the capital of Biscay and its distinctive architecture.

Afterwards, we'll go on a 1-hour walking tour of Bilbao to get to know its great landmarks, such as the Arriaga Theatre, the Bilbao Cathedral, Arenal Bridge, and the famous Siete Calles (7 Streets), one of the most historical areas in the old town centre.

Once our visit comes to an end, you'll have 2.5 hours of free time to try some tasty Basque cuisine in one of the local restaurants and continue exploring Bilbao at your own pace. Don't forget to swing by the iconic Guggenheim Museum! Whoever wishes can go on a guided tour of the museum.

Lastly, we'll meet up again at the agreed time to return to our original meeting point in Santander, where this day trip will come to an end after a total of 10 hours.
