When booking, you can choose between different options. All include pickup and drop-off at your hotel, transportation to El Yeso Reservoir, an English-speaking guide, and a horseback ride. Each option lasts approximately 12 hours. Below are the details of each one:
Ride to El Yeso Reservoir
After arriving at Casa Bosque facilities at El Yeso Reservoir, we’ll give you the necessary instructions see here to ride the horses safely. Once we’re ready, we’ll begin this horseback ride exploring the surroundings in the heart of the Andes.
Along the route, we’ll learn about the area’s natural features, including geological formations, flora, fauna, and the secrets of one of Chile’s most impressive reservoirs. As we ride, we’ll admire the scenic beauty of El Yeso Reservoir until reaching the viewpoint at 3,000 meters (9,843 feet), accessible only via the Mesón Alto route. From there, you’ll enjoy incredible views of the reservoir, perfect for photos.
After experiencing the beauty of Chilean nature up close, we’ll return to Casa Bosque Restaurant. The horseback ride lasts a total of 7.5 hours.
Upon arrival, we’ll recharge with a picnic-style meal consisting of a sandwich of your choice, along with snacks and fruit. With renewed energy, we’ll take you back to your hotel.
Ride to Laguna Negra
If you choose this option, after arriving at Casa Bosque and getting acquainted with the horses, we’ll begin the ride toward Laguna Negra. We’ll travel through the striking landscapes of El Yeso Reservoir, discovering the unique features of this area.
As we approach this impressive lake at 2,600 meters (8,530 feet), you’ll notice the landscape gradually changing. Upon arrival, you’ll see that the lagoon’s color isn’t what you might expect. It’s a vast green-hued lake surrounded by towering mountains that will captivate you. It’s a hidden gem and a key water source for Santiago de Chile.
After exploring this extraordinary setting, we’ll return to the starting point. The ride lasts 7.5 hours, allowing you to fully discover this part of El Yeso Reservoir. Back at Casa Bosque Restaurant, we’ll enjoy a picnic-style lunch with a sandwich of your choice, snacks, and fruit.
Finally, we’ll take you back to your hotel and conclude the tour.
