Cascada de las Ánimas Private Hiking Route
Activity Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Santiago, we’ll start the day trip from the capital toward Cajón del Maipó. On a pleasant journey of approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, we’ll reach the Cascada de las Ánimas Sanctuary.
Once at our destination, we’ll tighten our sneakers and head into an easy trail that will surprise us with exciting winding sections. We’ll walk through sclerophyllous forests, known for their incredible ability to adapt to dry climates. What type of vegetation will we find?
During the 2-hour hike, we’ll cross hanging bridges suspended over ravines. We’ll also stop in front of crystal-clear waterfalls that cascade down with force, as if the mountain were overflowing with life.
With every step, we’ll reveal the secrets of this Andean ecosystem. We’ll talk about birds that nest among rocky cliffs, plants that grow only at these altitudes and, with a bit of luck, if we look up, we might spot a condor gliding overhead.
Keep your eyes open, as we might also be surprised by the growling lizard, an endemic species that lives in this area. Halfway along the route, we’ll enjoy fruit, cereal bars, and water to recharge our energy.
After the hike, we’ll return to the vehicle and head to El Cristo Bridge, a geological site where we’ll understand how this valley was formed. We’ll discover stories of glaciers, eruptions, and communities that learned to live alongside untamed nature.
When hunger sets in, we’ll stop at a local restaurant for a break of approximately 1 hour. Finally, we’ll begin the journey back to Santiago, where we’ll say our goodbyes by dropping you off at your hotel after a total of 10 hours of day trip.
