Barceló Factory, Cave of Wonders, & Altos de Chavón
Activity Details
We'll pick you up at the scheduled time from your hotel in Santo Domingo. From there, we'll travel by minibus to Altos de Chavón, a recreation of a 16th-century Mediterranean village located on the banks of the Chavón River.
For 45 minutes, we'll walk through its streets and visit the church, the amphitheatre, and the archaeological museum, which displays the works of local artisans, painters, and sculptors.
We'll return to the minibus and head to the Cave of Wonders, the most visited underground cave in the Dominican Republic. We'll explore this geological phenomenon up close, admiring its stalactites, rivers, and the valuable paintings left by the Taíno people.
About 30 minutes from the Cave of Wonders is the next stop on the tour: the town of Quisqueya, where we'll visit the Barceló Historical Centre. Are you ready to taste the Dominican Republic’s most iconic liquor?
At the Barceló factory, we'll learn about the history of this brand and the tradition of rum in the Dominican Republic. We'll tour the distillery, the refinement area, the storage cellar, and the bottling room. In addition, we'll end our visit with a tasting of high-quality Ron Barceló. What more could you ask for?
Afterwards, we'll return to Santo Domingo, making a stop along the way to have lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Finally, we'll take you back to your hotel after an 8-hour tour.
