Lago Enriquillo Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at the meeting point you’ve selected and head west to explore the famous Lake Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Dominican Republic.
We’ll have breakfast during the transfer before reaching an area with indigenous houses. We’ll then continue the journey and arrive at Lake Enriquillo, where we’ll take a boat ride around Cabritos Island to discover this natural setting, located 43 m (141 ft) below sea level. Did you know the lake’s name comes from a noble who rebelled against Spanish colonial rule? And that it’s the largest lake in the Antilles? We’ll tell you all about it!
Afterward, we’ll head to the open-air museum of Las Caritas, where we’ll discover a series of rock formations carved with Taíno paintings. Large caves and perforated stones will welcome us, along with panoramic views of Lake Enriquillo. Get your cameras ready!
Next, we’ll travel to the province of Neyba to visit a traditional local spot called Comedor Ángela, where we’ll learn about the region’s wine production. The highlight is that we’ll be able to taste the wine and find out why it’s one of the most well-known in the Dominican Republic. We’ll also enjoy a local lunch here.
Our final stop will be the perfect way to end the day. We’ll reach the Las Marías bathing area to enjoy the surroundings and take a swim in its warm waters.
Finally, we’ll end the activity by dropping you off at the starting point after approximately 14 hours.
