Marrakech Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Taghazout and head to the west of Morocco to discover Marrakech.
After an approximately 3.5-hour journey, we'll arrive at our destination. You'll immediately notice the unique atmosphere that envelops this imperial city, which is steeped in history at every turn.
Our first stop will be in front of the Kutubiyya Mosque, which stands at almost 70 metres (229 feet) high and dominates the city's skyline. The name of this monument comes from “kutubiyyun”, which means "books", in reference to an ancient book souk that used to be in its surroundings. For this reason, it's also known as the "Mosque of the Booksellers".
From there, we'll enter the narrow alleys of the Medina, the historic centre of the city. Surrounded by approximately 19 kilometres (11.8 miles) of walls dating back to 1122, the Medina is the most vibrant part of Marrakech. Until just over 100 years ago, the entire city and its commercial activity were contained within these walls.
As we stroll through the Medina, we'll discover its small artisan workshops in the souks and some traditional markets. Afterwards, we'll go to the lively Jemaa el-Fna square, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This is the place where storytellers, jugglers and snake charmers congregate to entertain tourists and locals with their lively shows.
At midday, you'll have about 2 hours of free time to take home some souvenirs of the typical handicrafts of Marrakech and taste the delicious dishes of Moroccan gastronomy.
Finally, we'll make our way back to the starting point, where we'll say goodbye after a total of 14 hours of sightseeing.
