The Old City of Jaffa, belonging to the bustling Tel Aviv, preserves a fascinating history. We'll delve into it during this walking tour of the Old Town.

Free Walking Tour of Old Jaffa

The guide will meet you by the Clock Tower in Old Jaffa at the scheduled time. You'll then embark on a walking tour to the picturesque old town of Jaffa to explore its many charms.

Very close to the sea, we'll find the great Mahmoudiya Mosque. The architectural elements of its exterior will give us valuable clues into the mysterious past of ancient Jaffa, a time when this historic urban center did not yet belong to the city of Tel Aviv.

We'll continue our free tour of Jaffa at the Sabil Abu Nabbut, a public fountain also known as Tabitha's Well which was built during the Ottoman Empire. After learning the significance of this fountain, we'll head to the Jaffa port, where we'll get amazing views of the most famous stone in Tel Aviv, the Andromeda Rock. We'll go into some Greek mythology to discover why this landmark is so important.

Then, the tour will continue through Zodiac Alley, where we'll see tiles with the signs of the horoscope. Afterwards, we'll go to the Egyptian gate of Ramses II, which is the oldest archaeological site in Jaffa. Did you know that it dates back to 1400 BC? It was the ancient gateway to the port city when Jaffa was in Egyptian hands.

We couldn't end the tour without visiting the floating orange tree, a true symbol of the city and representative of the eternity of ancient Jaffa. We'll continue our route seeing several art galleries and finally, we'll arrive at the house of Simon the Tanner, Jaffa's most important historical relic.

Two hours later, the tour will come to an end and we'll say our goodbyes near St. Peter's Church.
