Explore one of the oldest cities in Albania and discover its fascinating historical heritage with this tour of Shkodra from Tirana.
After picking you up from your hotel in Tirana at 7:30 am, we'll travel by minibus to Shkodra, the gateway to the Albanian Alps and the cultural capital of Albania.
Before arriving at our destination, we'll stop at the Mesi Bridge, built in 1770. The guide will tell us all about its history and point out its most interesting architectural highlights.
Following a two-hour drive, we'll begin our guided tour of Shkodra. The first place we will see is Rozafa Castle, a fortress steeped in history. We'll explore the ruins of this castle, which was rebuilt by the Venetians and the Ottomans, as well as admiring the beautiful views of the rivers surrounding Shkodra.
We'll then approach the city centre and stroll through the main streets of Shkodra. To delve even deeper into the culture and history of the town, we will visit the Marubi National Museum of Photography.
Finally, we'll visit St. Stephen's Cathedral. Did you know that this church was once home to both the Sports Palace and the seat of the Albanian Communist Women's Congress? It has a very interesting history!
Before leaving Shkodra, you'll have an hour of free time to get some lunch in a local restaurant. After eating, we'll make our way back to Tirana where the tour will end at about 6:30 pm.
