Activity Details

At the appointed time, we'll meet at Nathan Phillips Square, the perfect place to start our free tour of the Discovery District. Here, we'll tell you the history of this iconic square and the emblematic tower of Toronto City Hall. We'll also learn the meaning behind the gardens surrounding the building.

Next, we'll walk to College Place, where Toronto's third general hospital was located, known as the most advanced hospital in the world in the early 20th century. We'll tell you how medicine in the city took a giant leap forward thanks to this center, and discover fascinating stories about the doctors and innovators who made a difference.

We'll continue our route at Queen's Park, a park that encapsulates more than 150 years of Ontario's history. Here we'll find statues of key historical figures and an imposing building that stands out for its architecture. As we admire the facade, we'll tell you how the province of Ontario was formed to become what it is today.

Next up, we'll head to the University of Toronto, one of the oldest and most prestigious campuses in North America. Here we'll learn about the university's role during World War I and its connection to some of the greatest sacrifices made to protect Canada's future.

Lastly, we'll arrive at the Philosopher's Walk, a path that runs through the heart of the University of Toronto and is steeped in both beauty and history. Did you know that this route was designed to connect students with art, music, history, and culture? We'll tell you all about it during the tour!

Here we'll bring the experience to an end, after a 3-hour tour of the Discovery District.
