National Maritime Museum of Toulon Tickets
National Maritime Museum of Toulon
Located next to France's largest naval port, the National Maritime Museum is one of Toulon's must-see attractions. Vauban, Louis XIV's military architect, called this port the most beautiful in Europe.
With this ticket to the National Maritime Museum in Toulon, you can visit the city's former arsenal at your own pace, which still preserves its majestic 18th-century gate. Once you cross the threshold, you'll have access to a unique collection that has been open to the public since 1814.
Among the highlights of the permanent collection is the model of La Sultane, a 28-gun frigate built in 1763 during the reign of Louis XV. You should also not miss the model of a nuclear submarine, designed to protect the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, based in Toulon.
Other notable pieces in the museum's exhibition include a figurehead of the god Neptune and the bell of the Toulon arsenal, cast in bronze in 1672 during the reign of Louis XIV.
The visit takes about 1.5 hours, although you can stay in the museum as long as you like.
