Turbaco Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Turbaco's main square to start our free tour exploring the deep roots of this Colombian town. Get ready to discover the legacy of the Yurbaco community!
During the tour, we'll visit the Church of Santa Catalina de Alejandría. This colonial building retains its original façade and has witnessed the region’s spiritual and cultural blending. Nearby, we'll stop at the Yurbaco Monument, where we'll learn about the indigenous community, whose traditions are still kept alive today.
Next, we'll proceed to the Republican House, a building that represents the post-independence era, and now is the Town Hall. We'll also explore the Yurbaco Archaeological Museum, where you can view authentic pieces that reveal the pre-Hispanic past. You'll be amazed by the cultural wealth preserved in this small museum!
Towards the end of the tour, we'll have the opportunity to sample a typical local drink and visit the home of a local artisan. Depending on availability, this could be a master hat maker crafting straw pieces by hand, a painter decorating wooden panels, or an artist working with cold porcelain. There, they'll explain their creative process and the traditional techniques that keep Turbaco's artisan heritage alive. It is a way to honor not only the past but also what continues to thrive in the hands and voices of its people.
Finally, after 2 hours, we'll wrap up the free tour in front of Turbaco’s Town Hall.
