Cueva del Burro Beginners Potholing
We'll meet at the scheduled time in the picnic area of Vegacervera, next to the sculpture of the ram, and from there we'll go to the Cueva del Burro, one of the main caves in the province of Leon, to enjoy with the family!
You must travel to the cave in your own vehicle, following the guide's car. When we arrive at the entrance of the cave we'll prepare ourselves with all the caving material: protective overalls, booties, gloves, harnesses and helmets with a torch.
Once we're ready with all the material, we'll go into the Cueva del Burro. This cave is level I and, therefore, doesn't require previous experience. It's also an ideal cave to explore with the family, as its underground sections can be easily visited by children over 8 years old.
Inside the cave, we'll visit its dry cavity, which has only one level and is approximately 500 metres long. Inside, we'll teach you how to distinguish the main karstic-type geological elements. Among them, the stalactites and stalagmites stand out, as well as the casts and micro lakes.
Depending on the group's pace, the potholing route will last between two and four hours. At the end of this experience, we'll return to the starting point in Vegacervera.
Level II
The Cueva del burro is level I. If you wish to explore another cave in León that requires more difficulty, we recommend that you book the caving activity in the province of León. This experience will take place in the Tibigracias or El Arenal caves, both level II, and will start in La Vecilla: a small town located only 20 minutes by car from Vegacervera.
