Vienna Hofburg Orchestra Concert
Why Attend a Vienna Hofburg Orchestra Concert?
In 1971, musicians from various major orchestral associations in the Austrian capital came together under the direction of Gert Hofbauer to form the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra. His aim was to cultivate and show the world the Viennese waltz and operetta music.
After several national and international performances for radio and television, worldwide commitments in symphonic concerts, and different sound recordings, the orchestra gained great global fame. After the death of Hofbauer in 2017, Giuseppe Montesano was named the new musical director.
With this ticket, you'll get to enjoy some of the most famous pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Strauss family. The orchestra is made up of a total of 40 musicians and is accompanied by internationally renowned opera and classical ballet performers. You'll be blown away by them!
The Venues
You'll enjoy a concert of the Hofburg Orchestra in one of Vienna's most spectacular venues: the Banquet Hall in the Hofburg Palace.
This room, also called the Winter Palace, features impressive paintings decorating the ceiling by the artist Schramm, which reveal the motto of Franz Joseph I: "Viribus Unitis" ("with united forces"). The central painting represents Austria surrounded by allegories of religion, justice, bravery, wisdom, art, and agriculture.
