Tour Details

Ready to explore the native culture of Zanzibar? This Tanzanian island has curious customs and traditions that we'll discover on this tour, which will start with the pickup from your hotel at the indicated time.

First of all, we'll head to the Jozani area. Although we won't visit its famous protected forest, we will visit different parts of the surrounding area to discover the local culture in depth. The first stop will be at the Pangoni Caves, where we'll learn about the legends related to Zanzibar's past.

Next, we'll visit a traditional Jozani village. Upon arrival, we'll be greeted by the mganga, the village healer, who will tell us about his wisdom and ancestral practices passed down from generation to generation. He will also teach us some of the traditional healing methods that have been used in Zanzibar for centuries.

After this talk, we'll take a walk through the village to learn about the daily life of the villagers. In addition, we'll have a handicraft workshop with the members of their community where we'll learn how to handcraft different items.

At the end of the workshop, we'll continue the tour by visiting a field, where we'll learn about the most characteristic products of Zanzibar's tropical agriculture. The visit to these plantations is sure to whet your appetite, so we'll return to the village for a typical Swahili lunch. The menu includes pilau (spicy rice with vegetables), fish, aubergines, fresh fruit juice and mineral water.

After lunch, we'll take a canoe ride through the mangroves surrounding the village. After 30 minutes of canoeing, we'll enjoy a short ox-cart ride in the surrounding area.

Finally, you'll return to your hotel, where we're expected to arrive 8 hours after pickup.
