Villa de Leyva Earth-Painting Workshop
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we’ll meet at Calle 15 No. 9-17 to begin a highly creative experience in Villa de Leyva. We’ll start with a special welcome, greeting the earth and recognizing it as living matter before transforming it into art. A perfect way to connect with the essentials before you start painting!
Next, we’ll move on to a sensory exploration. We’ll experience different kinds of earth, appreciating its aromas and textures, and discover the variety of colors that connect us to the land.
After that, it will be time to let your imagination run free. You’ll be able to choose between a board measuring 21 by 17 centimeters (8.2 by 6.7 inches) or one measuring 24 by 24 centimeters (9.4 by 9.4 inches), where you’ll draw a sketch or a figure inspired by your emotions, intuition, or the environment.
The next step will be mixing the dirt. You’ll learn how to prepare your own natural pigments by combining water and additives to create tones with evocative names such as “Tunja red” or “Villa de Leyva yellow.” Which color will you feel most connected to?
We’ll then take a break to enjoy coffee, tea, wine, or a handmade milhoja, perfect for recharging and relaxing. With everything ready, the most anticipated part begins: painting with dirt. You’ll get to work adding color and texture to your designs. Let the tones and textures speak for themselves!
To finish, we’ll share our pieces with the rest of the group, and you’ll sign your artworks. It will be the perfect final touch for this activity, which lasts a total of 1.5 hours.
