Day Trip to Mt. Olympus & Dion
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet in front of the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos in Thessaloniki and head west of the city.
After a journey of approximately 1 hour, we'll arrive at the archaeological site of Dion, an ancient settlement of the extinct Kingdom of Macedonia, dedicated to Zeus, the ruler of the Olympian gods. At this outstanding site, you can see the remains of the theater and the various temples and shrines that are still preserved.
Afterward, you can visit the Archaeological Museum of Dion, which houses an outstanding collection of classical sculptures and exhibits exquisite artifacts and impressive mosaics that reveal details of the daily life and artistic achievements of its ancient inhabitants. After learning about various curiosities about the art of that period, we'll continue our excursion into the interior of Greece.
We'll enter the mythical Mount Olympus National Park, the legendary home of the Olympian gods. Did you know that it’s the highest mountain in Greece at 2,918 meters?
There, we'll take an easy hike along its trails that will lead us to the Agia Kori waterfall, where we'll enjoy a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear emerald waters. Along the way, we'll learn about unexplained phenomena reported by visitors over the centuries.
The adventure continues with a visit to the Olympus National Park Information Center, where we'll see an audiovisual exhibition that will give us a deeper insight into the diverse ecosystem and cultural importance of the park. Afterward, we'll head to a traditional Greek restaurant where you can have lunch at your own pace.
With newfound energy, we'll make our way back to the meeting point in Thessaloniki, where bring the experience to an end, 8 hours later.
