Immerse yourself in the traditional gastronomy of the Netherlands, visiting the famous Dutch cheese markets of Gouda on this guided tour from Amsterdam.
Gouda Cheese Market Tour Itinerary
Having been picked up from Amsterdam, you'll leave the city centre behind and head south in the direction of Gouda, a historic town located just an hour and fifteen minutes away from the capital.
Arriving in the city, you'll visit the popular Gouda cheese market which has been held in the picturesque central marketplace since 1395. Every Thursday, the best cheese producers from around Gouda unite to sell their famous dairy products. Of course, Gouda itself is the star product, but you'll find a wide variety of other cheeses produced all over the Netherlands.
After visiting the market and discovering all the cheeses on offer, you'll have approximately 45 minutes of free time to explore the stalls at your own pace, or to discover the rest of the city's monuments and landmarks. See the Old City Hall, a stunning example of Gothic architecture which dates back to the mid-15th century, and Sint Janskerk, or the Church of John the Baptist, famous for its magnificent stained glass windows.
At the agreed time, you'll return to the bus for the journey back to your original departure point in Amsterdam.
This tour includes a pick up service from the following meeting points in Amsterdam. Choose which you prefer and make your way there for the scheduled time:
- 8:30 am: bus stop in front of the Heineken Experience.
