Agora of Athens Tour
Agora of Athens Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Anticastazione Agorà metro station in Thiseio.
We'll start the visit by observing the remains of the Odeon of Agrippa, the Lyceum, and the Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved temples in Greece. Did you know that it's the only one that retains most of its original roof?
Next, we'll see the ancient Parliament, where the military leaders of the city met, and the Heliaia, the court where the philosopher Socrates was condemned to death. We'll continue past the Byzantine Church of the Holy Apostles and Panathenaic Way, which was the central avenue of ancient Athens.
Then, we'll round off the tour with a visit to the Agora Museum, located inside the Stoa of Attalos, an impressive two-story Hellenistic portico. This exhibition traces Athenian history from the 9th century B.C. to the 4th century A.D. We'll learn about the main landmarks that marked the city, as well as mythology and political structures.
After visiting the museum, we'll finish the tour 2 hours later.
