Mythological Athens Free Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Thision Open Air Cinema, in the heart of Athens, to begin this free tour of mythological Athens. Ready to embark on a journey into myth?
Starting from this iconic open-air cinema, we'll walk towards the mystical Sanctuary of Pan, hidden among the rocks. Here, the god of nature was worshipped with secret rituals... Are you curious to know what they were?
We'll then continue to the National Observatory, a place where science meets myth. Founded in 1842, today it houses several institutes dedicated to science and the environment: a true bridge between the past and the future.
Our next stop will be at the majestic Pnyx, the sacred hill where Athenians gathered to discuss the city's laws. This natural amphitheatre housed the People's Assembly, an extraordinary example of democracy in ancient times.
Then, we'll continue to the remains of the Themistoclean Wall, built to defend Athens during the Persian wars. It's said that the goddess Athena herself blessed these fortifications.... We'll tell you all about the legend as we marvel at it!
During our tour, we'll also pass by the prison of Socrates, the place where the great philosopher calmly awaited his fate.
Finally, we'll end our tour at the main entrance of the Acropolis, from where we'll be able to admire the Parthenon in all its majesty, surrounded by the eternal charm of Greek mythology. We'll say goodbye at this last point after 2 hours of sightseeing.
