Athens Night Tour

  • 1 review | 3,035 travellers
It was an excellent experience! We toured the entire city of Athens and it was incredible to learn more about its history and mythology. The guide is extremely knowledgeable and a charming person; besides sharing many local tips, she even taught us some Greek words at the end of the tour. I highly recommend it!

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Books Plus shop, opposite the National Library of Greece, to begin this evening tour of the city.

First, we'll admire the impressive neoclassical façade of the library before heading to the Academy of Athens, one of the city's architectural gems. Under the glow of the night lights, the Ionic columns and statues of Plato and Socrates radiate beauty, immersing you in the grandeur of Ancient Greece.

A few steps away, the imposing Greek Parliament stands before you. You'll witness the changing of the guard of the Evzones, the famous presidential guards with their distinctive uniforms and solemn march. This will also be an opportunity to enter the political heart of Athens, Syntagma Square, always lively and bustling.

Next, we'll take Ermou, the city's most famous shopping street, which will lead us to a small treasure hidden among the modern buildings: the Byzantine church of Agia Dynami. A symbol of resilience, this church has stood the test of time for centuries.

Continuing on, we'll arrive at the majestic Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, the largest Orthodox building in the city. Its imposing architecture and impressive frescoes tell the spiritual history of Greece.

Next, our route will take us through the picturesque Anafiótika neighbourhood, reminiscent of the Greek islands, right in the heart of Athens. Among the friendly bars and white facades, we'll feel the magic of this corner of the world.

We'll then discover the imposing ruins of the Roman Agora and the fascinating Tower of the Winds, a marble structure that served as a sundial in ancient times. Nearby, you can admire Hadrian's library, a legacy of the Roman emperor, which still preserves the essence of its golden age. Of course, a visit to the Greek Agora is a must, the heart of Athenian public life, where philosophers such as Socrates and Plato debated the great ideas that shaped Western civilisation.

Finally, after a 2-hour tour, we'll end our visit at Monastiraki Square, where ancient history blends with modern Athens. Surrounded by shops, cafés and markets, this square is the vibrant soul of the city, where the hustle and bustle of the flea market blends with the majesty of the illuminated Acropolis in the background.
