Tour of the Belle Époque
If you choose this tour, we will meet up at the scheduled time in the city's elegant Recoleta district. For two hours, we will explore the architecture of the Belle Époque period in Buenos Aires, and discover the importance of high society and its passion for the style of the European capitals at that time.
We will stroll along Alvear Avenue, the most aristocratic boulevard in the city. Along the way, we will encounter palaces and mansions which belonged to the country's upper class, but which today are hotels and embassies. We will learn all about the history of these constructions, as well as the most important elements of their designs.
You will hear the history behind this obsession with French design and the furor for the style of the Beaux-Arts school. The guide will give every fascinating detail about the buildings we see, like the Duhau Palace, Fernandez Anchorena Palace, Pereda Palace, and La Mansion. We will also walk along the beautiful Arroyo Street, where we will visit the patio of the Embassy of Israel, before finishing in San Martin Square.
Tour of San Telmo
We will meet up at the scheduled time on Defensa Street, in front of the National Historical Museum in Lezama Park. From there, we begin a fantastic tour to discover the architectural style of the charming neighborhood of San Telmo.
This district is special due to its mix of all the different cultures that have been relevant in the history of Buenos Aires. During this route, you learn all about the influence of immigration in Argentina during the 19th and 20th centuries.
We will stop at the main landmarks in San Telmo, such as the Russian Orthodox Church, the Church of Our Lady of Bethlehem, San Telmo Market, and Dorrego Square. We will also discover the neighborhood's colorful cafes, an example of the Italian influence in the capital.
Our tour finishes at Casa Mínima, the narrowest house in the city.
