Go on a guided tour of Candelaria and learn about the history of the patron saint of the Canary Islands as well as its aboriginal inhabitants.
Candelaria Guided Tour
After meeting our guide, we'll start off this guided tour by walking the last kilometre of the Camino Real or Camino Viejo de Candelaria, a path that is 5 centuries old and one which pilgrims followed to reach the first Marian shrine of the Canary Islands.
Then we'll arrive at a square that houses the Basilica of Candelaria, a beautiful church located on the shore of the Atlantic. On our visit, we'll find out all about the origins of the church and how the Guanche civilisation, who inhabited the thousands of years ago, found the statue of the Virgin of Candelaria.
You'll also learn all about the town's pottery tradition when we visit the Candelaria pottery centre, where lots typical products are made, including the town's traditional costume.
