Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Biblioteca Vicente T. Mendoza to start this free walking tour of Cholula. From here, we'll step into the streets filled with history, faith, and tradition of one of the oldest cities in America. Let's go!

Our first stop will be the Parroquia de San Pedro Apóstol, famous for its tower, the tallest in the city, and its Churrigueresque-style dome. As we walk around its surroundings, you'll see how the barroco poblano marked the religious character of the region.

Then, we'll walk toward the Capilla Real de Naturales, an unparalleled architectural gem in Latin America. Its 49 domes and design inspired by Moorish art make it a prime example of the cultural fusion of Cholula.

The tour will continue at the San Gabriel Franciscan Convent, one of the oldest Franciscan sites in Mexico. Erected in a temple dedicated to the god Quetzalcóatl, this space preserves the memory of the mix between Indigenous beliefs and Spanish evangelization. Afterward, we'll head to the Plaza de la Concordia, an emblematic spot where daily life and pre-Hispanic heritage come together.

A few steps away, we'll see the Museo de Sitio de Cholula, where we'll admire archaeological pieces like ceramics, sculptures, and a model of the Great Pyramid of Cholula. We'll also visit the Regional Museum of Cholula, where we'll discover alebrijes and items that represent the evolution of Cholula from its geological origins to today.

After traveling back in time, we'll stop at the Parque Intermunicipal San Andrés, a natural space where you'll take in a privileged view of the Great Pyramid of Cholula, atop which stands the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. You won't be able to stop taking photos!

Lastly, we'll reach the exterior of the Archaeological Site of Cholula. This monumental pyramid, which has the largest base in the world, is found at this site. Here, you'll learn about the mysteries of the pre-Hispanic temple dedicated to Quetzalcóatl and discover how indigenous tradition and Catholic devotion coexist in the same place.

Finally, after 1.5 hours, we'll say our goodbyes at the feet of this pyramid, admiring the views of the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes.
