Cinque Terre Day Trip

Fede, our guide, explained to us very well what each town had to offer. I really liked the towns and they met my expectations. However, I would like to comment on two things regarding the guide. First, I don't think it's normal that he asks for a tip with the money we paid for this excursion. Second, he doesn't care much about the people in his group; he gets off the trains and starts walking without worrying about the people who are left behind and who end up arriving.

Day Trip Details

The full-day trip begins bright and early. First thing in the morning, your guide will collect you from the meeting point, where you'll climb aboard an air-conditioned coach and relax on a 2-hour journey to Cinque Terre, a complex comprised of romantic villages clinging to the rugged ravine.

After 2 hours on the road, we'll reach La Spezia or Levanto, depending on availability, and from there, we'll set off to Cinque Terre, a complex of little villages surrounded by hills and vineyards that look like they're suspended between land and sea.

Our first stop will be Riomaggiore, where you'll have a bit of free time before taking a train to Manarola, the oldest village in Cinque Terre with an economy based on fishing and viticulture.

Then, from Manarola, we'll take a train to Monterosso, where you'll spend approximately 2 hours. This village is located on the banks of a small natural gulf and has the longest beaches of the region.

Afterward, we'll board a boat toward Vernazza, a charming fishing town located in an incredible natural port. You'll have free time so that you can roam its charming port.

Finally, you'll hop on a train from La Spezia or Levanto to reach a vehicle that will take you back to Florence. The tour will come to an end at 7:30 pm in Piazzale Montelungo, near Santa Maria Novella station.

Tour Options

During the booking process, you can choose between the following tour options:

  • Tour without food
  • Tour + food: We'll stop at Monterosso for lunch. You can either pick a local restaurant once you get there or choose to do this tour with lunch included. If you prefer this option, the menus include seafood salad, pasta with pesto, and dessert, accompanied by water or wine. If you prefer a vegetarian or gluten-free menu, please let us know in the comments section and remind the tour guide on the day of the activity. Please keep in mind that lunch is not included in the low season. It is only optional in the high season (from March 25th to October 31st)

Self-Guided Cinque Terre Tour

If you prefer to explore the Cinque Terre at your own pace, you can also book this tour and discover the area at your own leisure. In this option, you'll travel to La Spezia/Levanto by bus and you'll have the whole day to explore the Cinque Terre at your own pace. This option does not include transportation between the different villages.

Your host, who will accompany you on the bus, will indicate the meeting point at La Spezia, which you must get to at the end of the day to travel back to Florence.

Please note that this option does not include the 5 Terre Card, which is the most popular way to travel between towns.

Cinque Terre + Pisa Tour

If you choose this option, as well as following the itinerary described in the previous section in Cinque Terre, we'll also visit Pisa. Here you'll be able to admire the facade of the iconic Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, and the Baptistry. You'll have some free time to explore its historical centre and the charm of the city in the heart of Tuscany. You're bound to fall in love!

Important: please note that the boat ride option is not available.

Itinerary Adjustments

  • The boat trip only operates between April and October and is subject to weather conditions. For the rest of the year, the itinerary will be carried out by bus and train.
  • During high season, the amount of time spent at each place may be altered.
