Durmitor National Park Tour
Black pine forests, glacial lakes, dramatic mountains and a historic bridge: immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of Montenegro on this tour of Durmitor National Park from Kotor.
Durmitor National Park Tour
We'll meet at 7 am at Old Town 513 in Kotor, where we'll board a minibus and set off through the beautiful landscapes of Montenegro on our road trip to Durmitor National Park.
During the journey, we'll pass through the picturesque Montenegrin towns of Perast, Nikšić and Šavnik before we reach our destination. Arriving in the national park, we'll head to the Black Lake, the best known of 18 glacial lakes on Mount Durmitor. Did you know the lagoon is actually formed of two separate bodies of water, the Veliko jezero and the Malo jezero, or Little Lake and Big Lake?
You'll have two and a half hours of free time to explore and relax in this beautiful natural park at your leisure. If you're feeling energetic, you can also choose to do a trekking route through the pine forest covered peaks to immerse yourself in nature and discover the different plants native to the area.
After meeting back up again, we'll make our way to the Durmitor National Park Visitor Centre. Here we'll get to learn all about the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the preservation of its plants and wildlife, which includes species like the griffon vulture, the brown bear and the golden eagle.
Before returning to Kotor, we'll make a stop at the impressive Djurdjevica Bridge, which stands at a height of 172 metres above the Tara River. You'll be enchanted by its dramatic canyon views! While we admire the scenery, we'll learn all about the importance of this bridge in the Second World War.
You'll then have an hour and a half of free time to get lunch here before we make our way back to Kotor. We'll arrive back at approximately 7 pm.
