Auschwitz-Birkenau Day Trip + Hotel Pickup
Tour Details
We'll pick you up at the indicated time from your hotel in the center of Kraków, or at a nearby meeting point, and from there we'll travel by bus to Oświęcim.
Auschwitz I is located next to this town in southern Poland, near the border with the Czech Republic. Once there, we'll take a guided tour of this concentration camp for political prisoners. During the tour through the different prison blocks, we will see the so-called starvation cells, where the prisoners were left to die of starvation.
After this first part, we'll take a short break to digest all that we have witnessed. We'll then return to the bus to travel to the outskirts of Oświęcim, where we'll take a tour of the Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camp. This extermination center was built to carry out what the Nazis called the Final Solution to the Jewish problem.
Throughout our tour of this complex, we'll see the prisoners' barracks, the latrines, and the remains of the crematorium ovens and gas chambers. We'll also see the tracks of the trains that arrived at Auschwitz loaded with prisoners who never left alive.
During the tour, we'll talk about World War II and the social, economic, cultural, and political consequences of this conflict. We'll also learn about the historical events that led to this most bloody and deadly armed episode of the 20th century.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point in Krakow, where we'll conclude this 7 to 7.5-hour tour.
Pickup Points
During the booking process, you will be shown a drop-down list with different hotels and meeting points in the center of Kraków. If your accommodation is not on the list, you will have to select a hotel or meeting point from the list that is closest to your accommodation.
The pickup time may change, so please take this into account when planning. Even if you choose a departure time when you make your reservation, this time is not guaranteed, but we'll try to prioritize it. The exact pickup time will be confirmed via email the day before the activity.
