Set off on a 3-hour hiking tour of Garajonay National Park, La Gomera’s most important natural reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with an expert English-speaking guide.
After greeting your guide bright and early, you will begin your hiking tour of Garajonay National Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve due to its beautiful and varied local flora and fauna. As you walk along its shaded paths, you will learn about the importance of this park for the island’s inhabitants and your professional guide will reveal the legend behind the name “Garajonay”. Do you know who Gara and Jonay were?
During the first part of the hike, explore the forest of laurel trees and find what plants and flowers grow in this protected area. The hike includes slopes of up to 150 meters (492 feet) high.
Trek along more difficult trails surrounded by wild nature and rock formations on the second part of the tour. While you cross one of the most stunning canyons of the island, find out about the surprising geology monuments in Garajonay and the style of life of those living in this part of La Gomera.
After three hours exploring the winding paths, gullies and precipices of the natural reserve, you will return to Playa Santiago or San Sebastián.
