Paleolithic Site of Laugerie-Basse Tickets
Laugerie-Basse: Paleolithic Rock Shelter in Dordogne
The Laugerie-Basse site, located next to the famous Grotte du Grand Roc, is not technically a cave. It is a rock shelter, a kind of natural refuge, situated on the right bank of the Vézère River.
By booking this ticket, you can explore the shelter at your own pace. Humans occupied this site during the Upper Paleolithic. This site features a 3D projection, a reconstruction of a prehistoric settlement, and a series of interactive panels.
During your visit, guided by informative brochures, you'll learn about the history of this natural refuge. Because it was inhabited between 15,000 and 10,000 years ago, it has left a significant archaeological footprint. In fact, around 500 archaeological artifacts have been discovered at this site.
Laugerie-Basse is also set in a beautiful natural environment, offering stunning landscapes.
