Lucknow Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet next to the Amir-ud-Daula Library to start this free walking tour. Are you ready to discover the most iconic corners of Lucknow? Let's go!
Our tour will start by admiring the Amir-ud-Daula Library, a building from the Colonial period that perfectly reflects Indo-European architecture. As we marvel at its facade, you'll discover why this site has become an important intellectual growth center during the British rule.
We'll continue toward the Safed Baradari, an elegant structure of white marble that was built for ceremonies for the king Mirza Wajid Ali Shah. You'll be amazed by this symbol of Lucknow's royal heritage! Then, we'll visit the tomb of Saadat Ali Khan I, a 19th-century mausoleum that houses the remains of the first Nawab de Oudh.
Then, we'll head to the Victoria Memorial, a black canopy erected to honor Queen Victoria that reflects the Colonial influence of the heart of Lucknow. Our free tour will continue diving into the history of the city's aristocracy by visiting the Kothi Darshan Vilas and Kothi Gulistan-e-Iram mansions. How luxurious!
Later, we'll reach the State Lalit Kala Academy, a cultural space that boasts exhibitions and local art shows. Close by, we'll see the Lal Baradari, a red pavilion that was the royal court of justice in Awadhi.
The tour will finish at the impressive Chhatar Manzil, also known as the Umbrella Palace. You'll discover why! This site, connected to the rebellion of 1857, will be the perfect way to wrap up our free tour of Lucknow.
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 2 hours together at this spot.
