    Our guide was excellent. I got so caught up in the history and her explanations that I forgot her name. She's from Colombia but knows a great deal about history. She's kind, warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable—she's very well-prepared. We loved the tour.

History

The origins of Plaza Mayor trace back to the 15th century when it was known as the 'Plaza del Arrabal' and served as the primary market square of the town. In the 17th century, the square was remodelled under Philip III, to whom there is a statue erected in the centre!
