At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the meeting point you choose when booking and leave Medellín behind to begin this day trip to Guatapé. Are you ready? Let's go!
During the journey, we’ll make a stop to enjoy a delicious traditional snack from the Antioquia region at the Chocho farm. Afterwards, we'll head to the village of Guatapé, where we'll enjoy a tasty lunch featuring classic Colombian dishes.
With our energy restored, we’ll take a 20-minute boat ride on the Guatapé Reservoir, accompanied by music on board. During the ride, we'll see the cross that commemorates the old town of El Peñol, now submerged underwater, and we'll pass by the El Peñol House Museum, dedicated to the memory of its inhabitants. You’ll also spot luxurious homes of famous Colombians and enjoy stunning views of the iconic Piedra del Peñol from the water. A truly spectacular sight!
Next, we'll disembark at the entrance to the La Manuela estate, one of Pablo Escobar's most famous former properties, located on the banks of the Guatapé Reservoir. We'll begin the visit by learning how this estate was built in the late 1980s as a gift from Pablo Escobar to his daughter.
Throughout the tour, we'll explore the estate’s original spaces and share stories and anecdotes that give insight into the impact this place had on the Antioquia region.
You’ll also have access to the main house of La Manuela, where we’ll take a 15-minute guided tour of the main building, including Pablo Escobar’s former bedroom and the bunkers.
Afterwards, you’ll have free time to continue exploring the estate on your own. If you wish, you can take a refreshing dip in Pablo Escobar’s swimming pool with excellent views of the reservoir, or join some adventure activities available on the estate.
Finally, we’ll head back to the pickup point, concluding a full 10-hour day.
