Puffing Billy Train + Phillip Island Penguin Parade
Day Trip Details
We’ll meet in front of the Hotel Windsor, in the heart of Melbourne. Once on board the bus, we’ll leave the skyscrapers behind and head into the lush vegetation of the Dandenong Ranges, one of the natural gems of the state of Victoria.
Our first stop will be at the picturesque Emerald Lake. You’ll have free time to walk along its trails and have lunch in this idyllic setting. After the break, it’s time to travel back in time as we board the Puffing Billy, Australia’s most famous steam train.
We’ll travel from Emerald to Belgrave on a scenic route where we’ll cross wooden bridges and pass through forests of giant ferns while the locomotive’s smoke drifts through the trees.
We’ll continue our journey toward the coast until we reach Phillip Island. We’ll head straight to The Nobbies, where we’ll walk along the boardwalks with panoramic ocean views. From here, we’ll be able to see Seal Rock, home to a large seal colony, and the impressive Blowhole, a marine geyser driven by the waves.
At sunset, we’ll get ready for the highlight of the day: the Phillip Island Penguin Parade. We’ll take our place on the viewing platforms at Summerland Beach and, as the sun sets, watch hundreds of little penguins emerge from the sea, cross the sand, and return to their burrows. Did you know they’re the smallest penguins in the world?
Finally, after this memorable experience, we’ll head back to Melbourne, where this 12-hour adventure will come to an end.
