Delve into the history of Mexico visiting the charming colonial city of Campeche and the Mayan archaeological site of Edzná on this day trip from Merida.
Campeche & Edzna Tour
On the day of the excursion, we'll pick you up from your hotel at 8 am and set off to Campeche.
On the way, we'll make a stop in Bécal, a town famous for its handicraft shops specialising in hats.
Before arriving in Campeche, we'll visit the archaeological site of Edzná. This incredible Mayan city is home to fascinating ancient remains, including a five-storey pyramid, a ball court, and the Temple of the Witch, among many other places of interest. We'll learn all about the technological advances of this pre-Hispanic society as we explore the site.
After visiting the archeological site, we'll head to Campeche, a coastal city declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beautifully preserved colonial old town. We'll visit the historic Fort of San Miguel, a defensive fortress built to defend the city against pirate attacks, and discover the old city walls.
During our tour of Campeche, we'll also visit the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción, the Puerta de la Tierra and the Malecón, the seafront promenade. You'll then have free time to get some delicious local food.
At the end of the day, we'll make our way back to Mérida. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 6 pm.
