Frida Kahlo’s Blue & Red House Tour
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Frida Kahlo Museum, the Blue House in Coyoacán, to begin this tour of two of the places that promoted the legacy of one of Mexico's most significant figures.
Frida was born, lived most of her life, and died in this residence. During our visit, in addition to seeing rooms such as her studio, her bedroom, and the kitchen, we'll be able to admire some of the artist's valuable works, such as Viva la vida.
You'll also see the bed with the mirror that her mother had installed after Frida's terrible bus accident in 1925, which left her bedridden and led her to begin her career as a painter. We'll also walk through the patio, designed by her husband, Diego Rivera, which features a stepped pyramid used to display his collection of pre-Hispanic art.
Afterwards, we'll walk to the Red House, the Kahlo House Museum, which is about a 5-minute walk away. This complementary space to the Blue House focuses on the roots and family circle that shaped Frida. This venue, which was the home of the Kahlo Calderón family, will reveal Frida's more human side, showing you “Aunt Frida” and “Sister Frida”.
In this museum, we can admire unique pieces such as traditional clothing, accessories, dolls, and photographs of her father, Guillermo Kahlo, whose work as Mexico's official photographer had a notable influence on Frida. To refresh yourself during the tour, you'll have a drink of your choice: coffee, water, or tea.
Finally, after 4 hours delving into the life of Frida Kahlo, we'll conclude the tour.
