Herculaneum Day Trip
Herculaneum Day Trip
At 7:20 am, we'll meet on Viale Pasitea and leave Positano behind to head northbound for Herculaneum. After 1 hour 30 minutes on the road, we'll arrive at this ancient Roman town.
After being buried in ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, Herculaneum was discovered over a thousand years later in 1709. The remains of the town had been buried under a lava flow that turned into rock. As a result, the houses and domestic items you'll see during the tour are in an incredibly well-preserved condition.
Our guided tour of Herculaneum will take us to fascinating places such as the House of the Corinthian Atrium, the House of the Neptune Mosaic, the House of the Deer and the Forum Baths. We'll tell you all about what life was like for Herculaneum's residents before the eruption of Vesuvius.
Next, you'll have 1 hour of free time to get lunch at a nearby restaurant. Once we've reconvened, we'll return to Positano and say our goodbyes at the meeting point at 1:20 pm.
