Montmartre Museum Tickets
Why Visit the Montmartre Museum?
Located at 12, Rue Cortot, the Montmartre Museum is housed in La Maison du Bel Air, one of Montmartre’s oldest buildings, dating back to the 17th century. Founded in 1960, it has been a creative space for famous artists like Auguste Renoir, Émile Bernard, Raoul Dufy, Suzanne Valadon, and Maurice Utrillo. Your ticket includes access to the museum's permanent collections, temporary exhibitions (subject to availability), as well as the Renoir Gardens.
What to Expect
The museum's permanent collection takes you through Montmartre's artistic history, filled with paintings, drawings, and posters that highlight the area's bohemian past when artists flocked to its cafés, cabarets, and studios.
One of the museum's most interesting spaces is the reimagined atelier-apartment of Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo, and André Utter, who lived and worked at 12 Rue Cortot in the early 20th century. The recreation offers a glimpse into the artists' daily lives, bringing their world to life through historical photographs and authentic details.
The museum is surrounded by the Renoir Gardens, named after the impressionist who lived here from 1875 to 1877. Renoir painted some of his most iconic works on these very grounds, including Le Bal du Moulin de la Galette and La Balancoire. Stroll through these tranquil gardens and enjoy sweeping views of the Clos Montmartre vineyard and the northern skyline of Paris.
To put an end to your visit, why not have a tea or coffee in the Café Renoir, the on-site café with a terrace opening onto the beautiful gardens?
