Discover the most authentic side of Cape Verde on this tour of the island of Santiago for cruise ships. The best plan if you arrive at the port of Praia, the country's capital!

Tour Details

Ready to discover the essence of the island of Santiago? If so, we'll be waiting for you at your cruise ship's docking time at the port of Praia. Once we're ready, we'll hop on a vehicle that will take us through Cape Verde, where nature and culture come together at every corner. Let's go!

Our first stop will be at Assomada, a vibrant city with a colorful market. Here, we'll visit a viewpoint where you'll see how the city stretches out across the green valley. If your tour is on a Wednesday or Saturday, we'll visit the vegetable market, one of the liveliest in the country. You'll see the most authentic side of Cape Verde!

We'll head north to the natural park of Serra Malagueta, over 2,624 feet (800 meters) tall. Here, with the majestic landscape as the backdrop, you'll discover one of the archipelago's most important green lungs. We'll stop to breathe pure air, walk among the exotic vegetation, and take pictures of this dreamy landscape.

Then, we'll visit Tarrafal, a paradise next to the sea, where you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to explore the beach and see how the fishermen set off and return with their nets full after a day fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Here, you can also grab a bite to eat for lunch at one of the restaurants we recommend.

Afterward, we'll drive on the eastern route on the coast, one of the most beautiful roads in Santiago, where we'll pass villages of fishermen that look like they have stopped in time. Their colorful houses, traditional boats, and children playing will show us the island's most intimate side.

Before we return to Praia, we'll stop at a banana and coconut tree plantation in Pedra Badejo. You'll be able to talk to the farmers and sellers of the area and, if you want, you can try a refreshing and freshly made coconut water while you learn more about the agricultural work.

Finally, we'll return to the port of Praia, where we'll say our goodbyes 7 to 8 hours later.
