Punta del Este Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
If you've just arrived in Punta del Este, and you'd like to see its most famous spots, this tour is for you! At the designated time, we'll meet at the indicated place to start this free walking tour, where you'll discover the history and charm of this Uruguayan city.
We'll start our tour by admiring La Mano, the sculpture that has turned into an indisputable symbol of the city, and continue toward the Paseo de las Américas. After passing by the Museo La Vista and the Plaza de los 100 Años, we'll step into the commercial heart of the peninsula by exploring the famous Calle Gorlero and the Plaza de los Artesanos.
Our tour will take us in front of the former Hotel Risso, before we head toward the Punta del Este Lighthouse and the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria. This church, with its distinctive blue facade, has a bronze image recovered from an ancient shipwreck on these shores.
On the final stretch of the tour, we'll pass by the Estación Meteorológica and the Plaza de los Ingleses (or Plazoleta Gran Bretaña), located at Punta Salinas, the geographic spot where the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean divide. Of course, we'll visit the Esquina de los Cuatro Mares, a place surrounded by local legends that will surprise you.
Finally, we'll conclude our free walking tour 2.5 hours later at the area of the port of Punta del Este. Here, along with its luxurious yachts, it's common to see sea lions resting on the pier.
