Montevideo is home to beautiful architecture, a grand sporting tradition, and charming culture. Discover its long and rich history on this trip to the Uruguayan capital from Punta del Este.
After collecting you from your hotel, we'll take you to the bus terminal in Punta del Este and give you your bus tickets for the journey to the beautiful capital of Uruguay.
After travelling along the coastline of the River Plate estuary for around 2 hours, you'll arrive in Montevideo, where we'll be waiting to give you instructions on where and when your guided tour of the Uruguayan capital will begin.
The panoramic tour will take you to see the "La Carreta" national monument, a sculpture by the artist Jose Belloni which pays homage to the historic Gaucho way of life. Just behind the statues, you'll see the unmistakable outline of the Estadio Centenario, the most iconic football stadium in Uruguay and home to the national team. This stadium played host to the first World Cup in 1930 and has been declared a historical monument of World Football by FIFA.
The next stop will be the El Prado neighborhood. Here we will visit the famous El Rosedal rose garden and Last Charrúas monument, where you will hear the fascinating story behind these statues.
We'll then continue our trip through Uruguay's history exploring Montevideo's historic centre where you'll visit Independence Square, the Cathedral, the Solís Theatre, the Port Market and more important landmarks.
At the end of the guided tour of Montevideo, we'll drop you back off at the place where the tour started. From there, you'll have to make your own way back to Montevideo bus terminal to take the bus at the scheduled time. We'll then be waiting for you back in Punta del Este for the return journey to your hotel.
