Bike Tour of Ravenna
We will depart from the meeting point at 10:30 am and head into the pretty narrow streets of Ravenna’s historic quarter. At almost every step we will encounter impressive churches and basilicas which give the city a unique touch.
During our tour, we will encounter the most iconic monuments of Ravenna, such as The Baptistery of Neon, the oldest building in the city which is perfectly preserved in its original form. You will also visit the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo where all the fascinating legends about the emperor Theodoric the Great will be revealed.
We will also enter the Basilica of San Vitale to admire the wonderful mosaics designs of the interior walls, and which reflect a dialogue between western and eastern artists during that epoch. This beautiful composition was declared a World Heritage Site.
Our itinerary continues at the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, where you will see the striking contrast between its simple façade and the luxurious interior.
