Dolphin Watching in Puerto Rawson
Dolphin Watching in Puerto Rawson
At the scheduled time, we'll meet up at Calle Marceloni González and from there, we'll make our way to the pier of Puerto Rawson. From this pier, we'll depart on a boat ride to try to spot the local fauna.
We'll begin the trip by going along the mouth of the Chubut River. In this area, if weather conditions are favorable, we'll see the friendly single-haired sea lions. Also, from the boat, we'll be able to spot various Atlantic birds such as seagulls and albatrosses, and we'll admire the famous yellow fleet of Puerto Rawson.
Then, we'll enter the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to watch the famous Patagonian dolphins that usually swim in this area of the southern hemisphere. These cetaceans, also called Commerson's dolphins, have a distinctive whitish-black color. During the cruise, we'll also tell you other interesting facts about these mammals.
After about an hour of sailing, we'll end the boat ride by returning to the dock of Puerto Rawson. Here, you can take some time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant nearby.
Lastly, after between 4 and 4.5 hours, we'll bring this activity to an end.
Dolphin watching
The coast of Puerto Rawson, located next to the mouth of the Chubut River, is one of the best places in Argentina to see Patagonian dolphins. However, animals are unpredictable. The sighting of a greater or lesser number of dolphins will depend on a variety of factors such as the weather at the time or the reproduction and breeding seasons of the different species.
