Discover the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba and climb to the top of the highest pyramid in the area. From here, enjoy a spectacular sunrise. A definite must!
First thing in the morning we'll pick you up from your hotel and hit the road, on the way to Cobá, arriving first thing in the morning.
We'll discover why Coba means 'water agitated by the wind', and you can enjoy the unforgettable experience of swimming in the Choo-Há cenote (underground pool commonly found in the Yutacan peninsula)., one of many which surrounds one of the largest cities of the classical Mayan period.
Cobá was a rival of Chichén Itzá in the fight for hegemony on the Yucatán peninsula. We'll see the splendour which the settlement grew to represent by visiting its principal buildings, such as the astronomical observatory. What remains today constitutes barely 10% of the original city.
And we'll discover the Mayan roots of Cobá, where historians have found enigmatic keys to this pre-colonial civilisation. Some theories even state that on this rock is prophesied the date of the end of the world.
We'll continue our tour with a bicycle tour up to Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in the Yucatán. It's worth the effort climbing up to the top, as from there we can see the leafy landscape which surrounds Cobá.
